About SCOPE

SCOPE is a recent effort by Scripps graduate students and staff to improve science education in community schools. We seek to fulfill the roles of mentor, special speaker, or partner teacher based on the interests of the school and the student/staff. With increasing pressures on teachers to excel in math and reading and the difficulty of mastering multiple science subjects, the science curriculum often does not get attention or is not taught well. The staff and students behind SCOPE seek a general public that is well educated in the sciences as well as to inspire future researchers.

We give talks in classrooms, at jobfairs, and at other educational events.
